چکیده
The control rod neutron absorbers for light water reactors with extended lifetime and enhanced safety are being developed. It is an innovative material concept that can extend the by reducing irradiation-induced swelling compared to existing absorber materials utilizing oxide-based materials. Furthermore, it enhance improving various characteristics such as oxidation, eutectic reaction, volatilization behaviors of material. First, composition composed a combination structure stabilizers has been designed candidates rods. preliminary manufacturability test candidates, confirmed possibility be fabricated using conventional ceramic manufacturing process. In addition, neutronic calculation/analysis out-of-pile tests (neutron phase stability, oxidation corrosion resistance, interaction reaction between tube material, melting behavior, etc.) in progress. also preparing in-reactor selected at HANARO research reactor KAERI.

The grid-to-rod fretting (GTRF) problem in pressurized water reactors is a flow-induced vibration phenomenon that results in wear and failure of the cladding material on fuel rods. Grid-to-rod fretting is responsible for over 70% of the fuel leaks in pressurized water reactors in the U.S. The GTRFinduced wear process involves turbulent flow, mechanical vibration, tribology, and time-varying irr...
متن کاملExperimental Hysteresis Identification and Micro-position Control of a Shape-Memory-Alloy Rod Actuator
In order to exhaustively exploit the high-level capabilities of shape memory alloys (SMAs), they must be applied in control systems applications. However, because of their hysteretic inherent, dilatory response, and nonlinear behavior, scientists are thwarted in their attempt to design controllers for actuators of such kind. The current study aims at developing a micro-position control system ...
متن کاملDiffractometer-Control Software For Bragg-Rod Measurements
We present Generalized Diffractometer Control (GDC), a diffractometer-control software package developed specifically for high-precision measurements of Bragg rods; we discuss its features and analyze its performance in data collection. GDC, implemented at several APS beamlines, controls a six-circle diffractometer in either Eulerian or kappa geometry, yet does not assume a mechanically ideal d...
متن کاملNeutron Monitoring System and Rod Control System Upgrades for Plant Life Extension
Most nuclear power plants in operation were built in the 1970’s and 1980’s. Plants of this vintage would require extensive upgrade for the instrumentation and control (I&C) to be able to support plant life extension. The most challenging aspect of I&C upgrades for these plants is the upgrade of the neutron monitoring system (NMS) and the Reactor Manual Control System (RMCS). These are specializ...
